Often, the impact of your court date is not confined to your time in front of the judge. There is an immense expectation to fulfill all sentencing demands and to abide by the restrictions that your sentencing may have encompassed (licensed restrictions, community service, jail time, etc.). Failure to comply with court orders can have a variety of consequences. Here are a few common examples:
Failure to pay any fines or fees assigned by the court will result in a failure to pay charge. You will need to return to court to see the judge again if you receive a failure to pay charge.
If you miss a follow-up court date, fail to serve jail time, fail to complete a course, or fail to complete community service, you will receive a failure to appear charge. You will be summoned to see the judge again for a failure to appear charge.
Not paying or appearing within the court set time frame for any of these sentences will result in additional charges.
